The X-Factor Design (PHX)
Share
Did you know that the Phoenix Mercury have a great fanbase? Did you know that this fanbase has a name? They are called the "X-Factor." They are named this precisely because they are the x-factor when it comes to home court. Here is a little bit about the X-Factor t-shirt design.
This design was the very first design that I came up with. I knew that I wanted to showcase the "X-Factor" fanbase of the Phoenix Mercury, but I also wanted to highlight the love that the players have shown back to their fans.
During free agency and trades in the off season the Phoenix Mercury owner and front office did a really good job of recruiting and building a new and different looking Mercury team. They went out and got Kahleah Copper (KFC), Natasha Cloud (Agent Zero), and Becca Allen. Both Copper and Cloud said that one of the reasons for choosing to come to Phoenix was because of the "X-Factor." The opportunity to have that crowd cheering for you instead of against you, meant a lot to them.
Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and Sophie Cunningham have always shown their love to the "X-Factor." They are always hyping up the crowd to get them loud and throwing up the "X" with their arms. They never fail to talk about how much the fans mean to them. How they are always showing out, no matter what.
The PHX on the front of the shirt again comes from the Rebel Jerseys that the team wears. It's also on the alternate basketball court in the middle. The "X" stands out in a different color as a nod to the "X-Factor." Plus, PHX is the abbreviation for Phoenix. I arranged the PHX diagonally across the front both ways as to also create an "X" shape. I put the letters in Mercury colors, purple and orange.
On the back I wanted to put quotes from all the team, but it wasn't fitting or working out very well. I almost was going to change gears and do something else, when I came across the quote from Sophie Cunningham.
This quote explains the Phoenix basketball culture and fans perfectly. It captures everything that the "X-Factor" is perfectly. I put the quote in orange, again because it represents the Mercury and Phoenix basketball.
I hope that the "X-Factor" enjoys the shirt, and I hope that they wear it proudly.
